Travel Sized Toiletries

I’m not going to complain about the TSA’s horrific and unclear rules regarding liquids (I know, 3 ounces… but saline is sometimes considered “medical”).  I am going to complain a little, however, about the difficulty I’ve had finding toiletries in three ounce sizes.

Too often lately I’ve noticed that things like deoderant come in 4 ounce sizes. Apparently the folks over at OBOW have had the same issues. While they mention Minimus, I personally don’t like not being able to find the products I use at home. Too often I walk around smelling odd fragrances and realize it’s actually me!

Beyond my difficulty finding a solid/gel version of my deoderant in a small size, I’ve purchased the Eagle Creek Pack-It set. The nice thing about this set is that the little containers don’t leak. It’s a pretty sturdy set and has proven to be a better solution than a disposable bag.

As I’m carrying on my luggage more and more, I’m considering splurging on a new travel/toiletry kit for the other stuff I take with me to replace my 10 year old bag.  So far beyond some overpriced TUMI items, I haven’t found much that looks good.  Any suggestions?
